Today is the last day to vote in the general election. This means today is the last day to encourage your Gen Z employees--who make up 10% of the potential voting population--to make a difference in the vote
"It is necessary to provide the proper resources and opportunities for Gen Z to get involved in politics." -Michael Nutter
But why is it so important to make sure that our newest voting generation to the polls?
Teach Gen Z that they can make a difference
One of the the qualities most Gen Z members share is the feeling of their insignificance on the world around them. Whether true or not, such beliefs can be discouraging and damaging.
Voting is in many cases the first chance members of Gen Z have the opportunity to offer a real-world impact by themselves. It is the first major exertion of power and influence that they have beyond their immediate surroundings--and that's important.
To those thinking that their votes aren't impactful, think again. Gen Z represents the most racially diverse generation yet--and they make up 10% of the eligible voting population. They certainly have the opportunity to make a difference.
And if Gen Z opinions matter in the election, why shouldn't they matter closer to home? Voting is a great way to start showing members of our next generation to be involved in that which effects them--from their country to their company.
Added benefit: This also trains Gen Z to vote, preparing them to be our nation's next active voters.
Give Gen Z demographics representation
As previously mentioned, Gen Z is the most ethnically diverse generation yet--far more diverse than eligible baby boomer voters. To receive a truly representative poll of the population, it is imperative that Gen Z participate.
And don't forget, Gen Z is behind a lot of positive change campaigns--from climate change to social justice. Their political involvement is geared towards improving the world that they're going to inherit from baby boomers.
Create a new generation of leaders
Never forget--Gen Z is our next generation. As such, they are our next leaders--both for our country and our company.
So teach them to lead.
Part of leadership is accepting responsibility, being involved, and being an active participant. All of these aspects are taught through voting.
So what are you waiting for? Get your younger workers involved in voting.
